Best Apps for Teaching

I love my tablet and my smart phone.  I knew the iPad was going to revolutionize my teaching and I spend a lot of time looking for the best apps to make doing my job better. The one problem was that I felt like I really had to dig to find apps that didn’t involve colouring a picture of Curious George (the education category on the iTunes App store really seems much more geared for K-12 apps and there are just more apps that suitable for the younger learners).

Here are my favourite apps for teaching in Higher Ed:

1. Explain Everything – I use this to create my video podcasts and post lecture recaps (probably my most used tool)

Screen Shot 2013-07-23 at 9.54.18 PM 3. GoodNotes- I have left my 3 ring notebook behind and use this app to write my lecture outlines, as well as all my notes on committee meetings (easy link to dropbox to then save on my lap top)

Screen Shot 2013-07-23 at 9.54.45 PM 4. Keynote- I’m a Mac Gal, keynote is the way I roll for lectures with beautiful templates and the best animation created, magic move. You can create presentation from scratch, or run existing presentations.

Screen Shot 2013-07-23 at 9.53.51 PM 5. TeamViewer- Want to walk around the lecture hall with your tablet? Now you can with this app (no need for a router or Apple TV to connect to your computer)
